Riverside, MO

Roofing and exterior work in Riverside, Platte County, minutes across the river from our shop.

Advance Construction Pros serves Riverside, Missouri with roofing and exterior work for homes and small commercial buildings in Platte County. We are a family run shop, the Xiong brothers, based at 615 N 62nd St in Kansas City, Kansas, and Riverside is one of the closest Missouri cities to us, straight across the river.

Riverside is small, 4,013 people at the 2020 census, and it lies directly on the edge of the Missouri River. That position defines the work. Low ground near a major river means drainage is never an afterthought, and what happens to roof water after it leaves the downspout matters as much here as the covering itself.

The city also carries a commercial and gaming presence out of proportion to its population, which means large low slope commercial roofs sit close to a compact residential stock. Two buildings within sight of each other can need completely different trades.

A little history, because it explains the building stock

Riverside lies on the edge of the Missouri River and was formally incorporated in 1951. The Renner Village Archeological Site within the city was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969, a reminder that this ground was occupied long before the modern city existed.

What stands today is essentially postwar and later. Riverside built out in the second half of the twentieth century and has continued to add commercial development since, which is why the building stock ranges from modest mid century houses to substantial modern commercial construction within a very small footprint.

ZIP codes 64150, 64151 and 64168

Riverside sits within 64150, 64151 and 64168, boundaries it shares with neighbouring Platte County communities. Here is how the city itself divides.

The riverfront and low ground. The ground nearest the Missouri River, where drainage governs everything. Gutter capacity and downspout discharge are the centre of the job here, not an accessory to it.

The residential streets. A compact stock of mostly mid century housing on regular lots, with simple roof planes and moderate tree cover.

The commercial and gaming district. Large modern low slope roofs on buildings that operate around the clock, including the riverfront casino.

The higher ground toward the bluffs. Where the land rises away from the river, with newer housing and noticeably more wind exposure.

Advance Construction Pros covers all of it.

Landmarks around town

The Argosy casino on the riverfront is the landmark most of the metro uses to place Riverside, and it anchors the commercial district. The Renner Village Archeological Site, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969, records a far older occupation of the same ground. Park Hill South High School is located in the city, and a Mid-Continent Public Library branch serves the community.

Advance Construction Pros works with property owners across the neighborhoods and corridors surrounding all of these.

The corridors and districts we work in

The Missouri River frontage. The defining edge of the city and the reason Riverside exists where it does. Ground here is low and slow to drain, which makes water management the governing concern on every property. We spend more time on gutter sizing and discharge on this frontage than on shingle selection.

The commercial and gaming district. The riverfront commercial ground including the Argosy casino. Large modern low slope roof systems on buildings that operate continuously, so phasing and temporary weather protection matter more than speed. This is a different trade entirely from the residential streets a short distance away.

The residential grid. A compact stock of mid century housing on regular lots, straightforward in roof geometry and easy to walk. Tree cover is moderate rather than heavy. These are among the more predictable roofs we work on anywhere in the metro.

The bluffs and higher ground. Where the land rises away from the river toward the rest of Platte County. Newer housing sits up here with considerably more wind exposure than the sheltered low ground. Ridge and hip lines take correspondingly harder wear.

The Park Hill South area. Residential ground around the high school, with settled housing and established tree cover. Family neighborhoods with the steady gutter and debris workload that comes with mature canopy over a roofline.

The Renner Village ground. The archeological site listed on the National Register in 1969, recording an occupation of this riverside land long before the city was incorporated in 1951. It is a useful reminder that the flat ground near the river has always been the usable ground here. Everything modern sits on the same limited footprint, which is why Riverside is so compact.

The river crossings toward Kansas. Riverside sits close enough to our own side of the metro that the crossings put us here quickly. For scheduling that matters, because a leak call in Riverside is a short response rather than a long one.
